Hearts at Althoff did not grow cold with the No¬ vember weather. The month began with a volleyball marathon organized by the Spanish Club to benefit Michelle Cate who suffers from a rare skin disease. The following week, the annual Althoff Benefit Ban- quet raised funds for the school. Sherlock Holmes amazed all by solving his famous case, THE HOUND TKTaJ OF THE BASKERVILLES, for the Fall Play on the 9th jg J and 1 Oth. November also saw the beginning of a new tradition when the first annual calendar drive proved successful. Two major interests of Althoff students — were recognized during the month at the Choral Concert and the Fall Sports Banquet. The athletes again came into view with the start of the wrestling season and the opening of the basketball season which was signaled by the Tip-Off Dance. The month went out in the same good-natured way it began as the entire school participated in the Thanksgiving mass celebrated by Bishop Keleher. Both teams anticipate the results of the shot. The library proves to be a constant source of knowledge for these busy freshmen After the holiday festivities, classes resumed on January 6. Althoff ' s stu¬ dents began busily studying for the se¬ mester exams which were held on Janu¬ ary 16 and 17. With the end of exams, Althoff ' s scholars were rewarded for their intense studying on Sunday, Febru¬ ary 2, at an assembly honoring students who received honors and high honors for the first semester. On February 13, students over seventeen years of age showed they cared by donating a pint of blood for the annual Red Cross Blood Drive. On February 26, students who sold over four calendars were rewarded with a free day. Two days later, Althoff kicked off its annual Magazine Drive. The Lady Crusaders Basketball team was crowned City Champions and advanced to regional finals. Ken Shields, a varisty wrestler, advanced to the state competition.
