We, who have gotten to know you, realize that you have all that is required to bring to your school the renowned reputation that you desire for it. We send you forth now to do that very job. During this, your first year here at Althoff, you have heard my voice many times. Much of what l have said will be deservedly forgotten. But as l strive now to put on paper words that will remain as years pass and as youths' dreams meet reality, l can do no better than to say with St. Paul nl have no more to say, brethren, except this: Draw all your strength from the Lord, from that mastery which his power supplies.n CEph. 6, lOl. You know not what awaits you. You know not what the wise providence of God has arranged for you, what joys and especially what sufferings our Lord will ask of you. In life, we are always just a step away from a corner, around which we know not what awaits us. The question in the mind of the recently matured person is always whether he will be equal to the demands to be made of him, whether he will walk resolutely and uprightly through thick and thin, through fair weather and foul, or whether he will falter and stumble earthward. St. Paul provides the answer. There need be no fear, if you draw your strength from the Lord. This you have done in the years that have passed. From the moment in Baptism, when God first sent the spark of Christ's life into your soul, the strength of the Lord has been enlightening you. Through the sacraments and prayer, through the intercession of the saints, and the example of the many friends of Christ you have known, the strength of the Lord has changed a frail and fragile you into a strapping athlete of Christ. Particularly, the grace of a Catholic education has pointed you most unmistakably toward that source of power with which to steady your steps in the unknown future. We confidently hope that the power of the Lord, given you through your Catholic education, has produced in you that mastery of which St. Paul spoke. We would like to think that Althoff Catholic High School is graduating in l965 a class of masters, masters in the divine art of supernatural living. This is the prayer that the Mystical Body of Christ in l965 prays over you, that such will be the mastery you have from Christ, that you will, by your lives, render visible again, the Invisible God. nThe Word was made Flesh.n May the Word of God be made flesh again in you.
