Principal Assistant Principal I wish to express my sincere thanks to the stu- dents and faculty advisors who have given unself- ishly of their time and talent in order to make the Nuntius a reality. I would also hope that not only have you given of your abilities but that you have profited from a sense of achievement, a growing satisfaction in seeing this yearbook become a reality. The Nuntius is a record of the students, the fac- ulty, and the events of this school year. However, we hope that the educational experiences gained this school year go beyond what is contained within the covers of this yearbook. If your educational experiences have helped instill in you a sense of awareness, this would be the greatest achievement of all. This generation of young people needs, above all, to be aware of the great potentialities which face our community, state, nation, and the world. There is the potentiality for betterment of our soci- ety and the potential to destroy our society. By realizing the greatest use of our potential we can develop those qualities of sensitivity, courage, creativity, adventuresomeness, and sacrifice which will help end pollution, poverty, discrimination, and lawlessness. We must look upon the years ahead not so much as a struggle for survival but rather as a challenge to each of us to realize our fullest potential. OFFICE STAFF ASSISTS STUDENTS MRS. KATHLEEN MRS. CLASS OF 73 The Class of 73 was definitely 4-F: Freaks, Flirts, Fools, and Fanatics. We had more of everything and less of anything than any other group. Eighth grade was fantastic! Bells, books, classes, and mixed-up schedules. Phys. Ed. was another new experience. It was One, Two, Bend and Grunt. Ninth grade... What can you say? Earthworms, Miz Tree, and more homework. What more could anyone want? Tenth grade... We were oldtimers then. We knew four different ways to skip class. We learned speedwriting from Miss Phillips. We also Learned that loud noises were damaging co your ears. Unfortunately, no one told Mr. Dodson. Washington was THE trip of the year. The trip was very prim and proper; girls on one side, boys on the other. Of course, the aisle was neutral territory. Maybe that's why no one was in their seats... Eleventh grade... We're Juniors now. It was almost the battle cry? A rather sluggish class woke up. We didn't do anything important, but we didn't do it faster than anyone else. The trip to Williamsburg prepared us for our future occupation--Rum Running. Of course there was the prom--there's always the prom. That prom was a splendid example of bureau- cracy in action. Three people and 3,963 opinions about how it should be done. The theme was difficult to choose. It was a toss up between ''Rock of Ages and Shaft. '' We finally compro- mised and the number of people who remained friends were definitely ''Precious and Few. ’ Oh, we did do one thing that no other class was able to do--we drove Mrs. Key to retire- ment. It seems that one day she was helping a certain student who was behind and...uh... well, you know how explosive chemicals are...and how easy it is to get confused...there was a boom and a lot of green smoke. ..all we found was a retainer hanging from the ceiling. Twelth grade...this year...now. Today we grew up. Just a few days left before we give an ulcer to the world. Its only fair after the ones we gave the teachers. Five years at AHS. It hasn't been easy, but no one said it would be. Even Mr. Drumheller is counting the gray hairs. They told us it couldn't be done, so the CLASS OF 73 didn't do it.
