Wewere distinguished in th is year of our Lord 1952 by being the first eighth grade class in AHS. But we also were destined to be the first 8th grade to introduce an extra year of high school to be served by us and future classes. Nevertheless, we became a very ex- ceptional class, in more ways than one - electing Harold Cothran as President, and managing to keep our teachers extremely busy. Our Freshman year found us quite grown up and ready to take our rightful places in competitive sports and clubs. Bobby Sandidge was elected President. Our busy Sophomore year was directed toward raising money for,and giving, the biggest and best Prom ever attempted for the outgoing seniors. Philip Farmer presided over this year as President. Our Junior year found us the top class a year sooner and perhaps a year longer thanwe deserved. Atripto Williamsburg and an exciting ring dance at the Dalton House were the highlights of a busy and completely satisfying year. We also shared in bringing to our school different honors andachievements of whichwe were very proud. Our Officers were: Frank West - President; Sandy Frazier - Vice Presi- dent; Rebecca Davis - Secretary; and Dale English - Treasu- rer Our Senior year now brought us to the ending of one lifetime and the threshold of a new. We have been ably led by President, Sandy Frazier; Vice-President, Marvin Row- land; Secretary, Mittie Green; and Treasurer, Earline Queen. A short and busy year it has proven to be. We have held office, participated in all sports, and worked toward the trip to Washington. We enjoyedone of our last get-togethers at the Senior Banquet and were guests at a Prom given in our honor by the Junior Class. We romped and played through Class Night, soberly accepted our responsibilities from the Bacchalaureate Sermon, and ended a present way of life with Graduation. Our future awaits us, but ever will we be casting backward glances to the best years of our lives. SENIOR GEASSeP ROP HEGY The future holds in her hand the destiny of the class of 1957, and she will reveal her secrets only as the years tear them from her. As each year passes a dream will be born anda reality will exist. They will emerge as one, as each member seeks to find his own special place in the universe that awaits his maturity. Decisions will be made that will shape the age; new talents will be fulfilled through a dedicated purpose; experi- ences will be collected and catalogued as to success or failure -- anda life will have been lived. We will seek to live our lives invarious ways according to individual desires and objectives. Some of us will choose to serve humanity in fields of nursing, engineering, teaching, medicine, etc., while others of us will exercise our individualtalents and tastes in the fields of industry, farming, art, music, home making. Each of us will achieve and succeed according to his labors, and it will be counted worthy because he has given his best to make it so. eee eee i OF INNOCENCE YOU MAY BE SURE LAUGHTER IS WITH US. eo O 4_e JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS Martha Simmons Martin Burton Jean Robertson Billy Booker . . . . .
