CLASS HISTCDIQV 1948 E THE SENIOR CLASS OF 48 feel honored at havmg the pr1v1lege whxch now confronts us Thls prxvllege IS to put forth m Writing the many fallures and advancements whlch have confronted us durmg our four year stay rn hxgh school As nolsy unmannered busybodles we entered our freshman year of hrgh school feelmg superxor to all our superlors We had the hlgh hopes of havmg a lot of fun many prlvlleges and almost no class work This we learned after a few days was a vam hope mdeed Our class work was much harder than any we had ever had before but we managed to llve through our first year Our sponsors of that year were Mlsses Lxllxan Douglas and V1rg1n1a Hall who advnsed and encouraged us when our sp1r1ts were low We elected class officers who carrled us through our trlals and trlbulatlons Our class presldent was Loxs Moody and every one agrees that she dxd a good o At the end of thrs thr1ll1ng and expectant year we were astomshed to find that desplte our many trrals and temptatlons there were only a few faxlures Our second year ln hxgh school began wlth a new look on l1fe We were no longer freshmen but dlgnlfned sophomores Our class presldent thxs year was Lucy Slmpson and our sponsors were Mrs O L Martm jr and Mrs Garme Hamllton We took our work more sernously and Iune came before we realrzed It To all junrors the most lmportant events of the year are the arrlval of class rlngs the un1orSen1or Prom and commencement exerclses And we were certamly no exceptlon When the long awalted rmgs arrxved we walked on clouds for days wlth our hands ln the alr so no one could mlss seelng the rmgs We had a l1ttle trouble decldmg where the Prom was to be held but after all snarls were untangled the Prom was very successful YVhen class nlght arrlved we were all exclted The glrls were glggllllg md the boys clearlng thelr throats but we all llved through ll to begm our fmal year IH A H S The followmg September ue returned as xery worldly Semors Thls was the rnost lmportant year m our hxgh school careers and ue all realxzed thls fact Our presldent was Charles Anthony and our uce presldent was Lucy Drxsklll Our colors were green and whxte and our Homer the gradema XVe decxded that one for all and all for one vsas the motto that suited us and so we began our fmal year There was much excxtement durmg thls year partly due to the arrxval of class pms callmg cards and IHVIIHIIOHS Another excltmg event was the senlor play under the dlrectxon of Mrss Helen PhllllpS We started work on our annual ln january wrth the holxdays behlnd us Lucy Drlskxll was elected Edltorm Qlllffl and 'Nlae Myers proved very capable as Busmess Xlanager Every year a D A R award IS gxven to the outstanding Semor glrl Thls year Dorothy Taylor was elected by her classmates as the grrl who really deserved thls award Before we realxzed ll ue started practxcmg for Commencement That was sw hen ue sobered down and prep ired for the end of our days at A H S Some of us were happy but others felt a llttle sad and sentlmental at leavmg the way of l1fe we knew Though ue may lease and never come back we shall never forget the wonderful l1ves me led at A H S - - - - Y ' 7 i I Y l ' , . . . . , ., . . , A , J - , .
