Elass Praphccy While walking along a dusty country road one warm afternoon I chanced to meet a little old dark lady Her clothes were bright and colorful and in her hmds she carried 1 crystal ball She greeted me and began a conversation Idiscovered she was a gypsy fortune teller I asked her if she could predict the future of my fellow classmates She agretd and vue began to study the ervstal ball together Our first scene was New York City There we see Jesse Arthur a Big League biseball player On the side he IS married to one of New York s richest socialitcs Another in New York is K1thleen Smith who now sings 1n the Metropolitan Opera Kat happily married to her old boy friend has two great careers Two more in New York are ean Hogan and Inez Robertson both see et1r1es in a prominent law firm Inez plans to come back to V1rg1n1a and settle down Still another in New York IS Pete Shelton who has opened a dance studio Pete 15 an old married man now Our scene shifts to Hollywood Los Mae Holt has just begun work on her fourth movie She stars with Van' Another in Hollywood is Reva H ndricks who has just taken Judy Canova s place George Brown has opened his seventh grocery store this one in Florida It seems as if George will remain a bachelor Another bachelor IS Preston Elder who has a thriving gambling jo nt in Alt 1v1sta Still another bachelor is un1or Myers who seems to be the only farmer around who can grow a tomato potato combination Also in Altavista we come upon Bobby Finch the only licensed embalmer at Finch SL Finch Finch and his little blonde are happ ly married with an heir called Bobby Junior At Altavista High Vlfglnla Cundiff has tak n Miss Phillips place V1rg1n1a plans to be married in a little while Another at A H S IS Nancv Nelson who IS Physical Ed director She and Lynwood Hicks a e still a twosome Lynwood has full management of Hicks Dry Clemers Marguerite Brumfield has taken Miss Fauntleroy s place in the Commercial department at A H S She savs she doesn t believe in marriage principal of A H S Ramona IS supposed to be married in a month Ralph says he s too busy for mat rimony but we notice hes mighty dependent on Beatrice Three very happy matrons who are neighbors in the country are Betty Dewberry Katie Dalton and Shirley Ramsey Betty and Katie had a double wedding the dav after graduation Shirley has two daughters Still another one who IS married IS Elise Dalton she IS living in the country also and IS the proud mother of twins Ruby Cox has taken over the management of Hamner Brothers She s one of the very few who thinks a career lS more desirable than a husband Helen West has been happily married for a long time She sus housekeeping is fun and her little son is the best dressed boy in the first grade Another one of our girls who has two careers IS Georgie Bailev She has just written her second best seller and she just loves living on a farm near Rustburg with her handsome husband and son Mary Joyce Gibson IS married to a traveling salesman their home is in West V1rg1n1a Kathryn Pearson finds her work mort interesting than men Kitty is art designer in a fashionabl department store in Washington Two more of our bachelor girls are Edith Mayberry and Nancy St1nnette Edith is Head Nurse in a prominent hospital in Maryland Nancy has taken over the staff at Lynchburg General Hospital ackie Hucks just can t make up her mind She has traveled extensively but doesn t know with whom she ll settle down Her home town is still Altavista Lou Carter Wood IS a concert pianist in Paris She IS married to a Frenchman and speaks French fluentlv Boston Lambert IS now Professor of Forestry at the Unnersity of V1rg1n1a He just can t choose between a blonde and a brunette Another professor is Bobby Price at V P I Hes married to a girl from Texas Roy St1nnette IS an electrical engineer in Chicago Ht teaches dancing on the side and dates .1 dif ferent pupil of his every night The crystal ball suddenly became a mixture of faces and then just as abruptly cleared I thanked the little gypsy lady and left her As I walked along I thought of what we had seen in the ery stal bill Some of it seems impossible but qzmn talu Anythm tin happen and usually does' . . , . . , . . . .
