3ovewovd ’The bells are ringing” early on a September morning, calling students once again to enter the halls and fill the classrooms at A. O. The sound of the bell brings varied reactions to those who hearken; some answer the sound only half-heartedly, regretting that vacations are ending; others rejoice, looking forward to the pleasure of renewed friend- ships, seeking to uncover knowledge and the answers to the innumerable questions of youth, striving for goals that are often just out of reach, but worthy of every effort. Throughout the school year, as bells ring out for class- es, tests, study halls, clubs, ballgames, and parties, stu- dents grow both physically and mentally. For thirty-eight years, since its f ou n d in g in 1922, Altamahaw Ossipee school bells have been a source of pride and joy to the community.
