II The TOMAHAWK stall ol 1959 presents the daily life and activities ol the students of Altamaluiw-Ossipec School to you in the form ol a drama. It welcomes you to this performance. This play opens on the campus ol A.-O. School. The staeje is set lor another day—another of lile's dramas. Each member of the cast is always active in this play; the cast — the student body and teachers. Though many of us are unaware of it, there is a different drama produced here every day . No script is needed. All that is necessary is a cast and life itself. As the stor unfolds you will see many things which will be im- printed in your heart and mind; in later years you may glance through this book and re-live this drama. You are now ready for the first act ol The Drama of ’59. - Becky Jones, Editor Nimrod Harris, Associate Editor We Dedicate For ten years many of the scenes in the pageantry at Altamahaw- Ossipee were capably directed by our former teacher of Home Economics. Many a future homemaker learned to sew a fine seam” and the other fun- damentals of homemaking under her guidance. Whether the request was to plan a party or to put the finishing touch on an evening dress, she proved willing and able. Her sweet smile, her willingness to spend hours of extra time for her girls,” and her devotion to teaching have earned for MRS. RACHEL TROXLER a special Oscar. As she is now putting into practice the art of homemaking, so are many of those who were her students. 4 Administration DirectorsofA.-O.'sdailydrama are the principal and the local school committee. Their services to the school and community are invaluable and under theirdirection the opening night becomes a hit. MR. HORACE BRANNON Principal MRS. JEAN SADLER Office Clerk J. N. HARRIS VERNON S. For approximately five busy months, the staff, chosen by the editors for their interest and capabilities, works hard in salesmanship and advertising, in lay-out and photography. By working in one or more of these fields, each staff member gains some knowledge of the making of an annual. Through the efforts of every staff member, a successful yearbook is produced. One ambition which all of the students at A.-O. have in common is their desire to be in the Student Council, our most vital organization. The Student Council provides student leadership in governing the school and interpreting school functions to the community. Other projects include operating the concession stand at athletic events, directing fire drills, and caring for the flag. Not only does the Student Council pass governing laws but it also acts as a judge and ruling power in carrying them out in accordance with school standards. Student Council Seated: K. Leath, L.
