Seniors ROBERT TROY WEBSTER, JR. llwebll . ALMA FRANCES WOODY HAI!! EMILY KERNOD LE TRIPP THOMASSON Mascots we Che ,Afamifcs of 1953 Traveling around in a rocket recently, we sped over a place that was very familiar to us all. We were looking upon our dear Alma Mater. Here it was that we shared experiences together, most of them goodp some, bad. It was here that we experienced the days of high prices, tragic years of World War II, the dreaded Korean situation, and the election of General Dwight D. Eisen- hower as our national leader. Many of our electrons fell by the wayside, some of our protons and neutrons disappeared into the mysterious realm of space, but the nucleus remained--remained to develop the atoms. We enjoyed A. O. 's numerous activities. We rendered our services to the Student Council, to the Hub and to the Tomahawk staffs. We participated in sports, enjoyed an adequate physical education program, took part in dramatics, and music, and became members of various clubs. We saw a dream come true--we witnessed the beginning and completion of the Marvin E. Yount Gymnasium. Our gratitude of love and appreciation was expressed by our gift to the school-- four cross- goals added to our new gym. This, we feel, was only the beginning of a growing education. This was the foundation--a firm foundation--for our first goal of achievement. Our hearts linger fondly on the students, the teach- ers, and the principal who contributed so much of their ability, patience, time, and understand- ing so that we, the Class of '53, may go out into this world, able to face this speeding time of Atomic Energy unafraid.
