ru 5 Teamwork, Not HEROICS On Court “We’ve polished our man on man defense so well that the other teams become extra confused at our games.” Catching the other team off guard. No one tries to be the hero of the game by trying to score a difficult shot when someone else is open. We all feel like heroes when we win together.” says Laura Sterling. “We support each other a lot,” Daniella Rindels exclaims. “In games, if we mess up we help each other by not putting each other down. A game isn’t worth a good friendship. Friendships are another factor for the success of the team. By partici- pating in activities outside of prac- tices and games, the girls are able to build up good concrete relation- ships. “When we fight with each other, we can’t possibly do our best in working together,” remarks Shaunel Fisher. “That really can have bad effects on our games.” “We’re all friends.” continues Laura Sterling. “How can we not be when we spend so much time and effort play together?” The girls are able to relieve tension by not taking the games too seriously, yet main- tain a good discipline. The girls practice for many hours, not men- tioning the two hours of sweaty bas- ketball games. “Our practices are really in- tense,” quotes Wendy Horlacher.
