She makes us work extra hard and extra long, no matter how tired we are,” says Troy Davis. Through extra hard workouts, the players can begin to improve their skills and abilities, and become bet- ter competitors. “A successful tennis player has to be strong, have stamina, and flexi- bility; but most importantly, he has to have the mental ability to know what’s going on, and how to make the other guy unstable, without sac- rificing your own game,” says Chris Terry. Although tennis is based mostly on one’s individual performance, teamwork and unity are essential to the success of the team. “We all contribute as much as we can, and that way, we can’t leave out any important skills that could help our team win,” says Mike Grass. The team agrees that they will go to state only if they work together to improve their play. The coach patiently observes the graceful Aiming, crouching, and positioning.
