Teamwork And COMRADERY Unite Girls After some close losses in foot- ball, it was refreshing to see the vic- tories of the volleyball team. They took 3rd in region and participated in three state games. “The girls worked long and hard to get to state,” said Coach Kathy Nielsen. “The fan support was overwhelm- ing. and that made the girls work even harder.” Most girls agreed that American Fork was one of the hardest teams to play and defeat. Alta lost their first confrontation 0-2, won their second meeting 2-0, and, in Alta’s final state game, lost 1-2. “The tension increased tremen- dously during some of the games, especially those against American Fork,” stated Rachel Hanson. “We Showing both skill and agility. The old cliche “United we stand, divided we fall” definitely ap- plied. “We aren’t competing against each other,” remarked Wendy Schmidt. “We compete as a team against other teams.” “The team isn’t just working rela- tionship between players, but it’s based on friendships,” said Aimee Rice. Despite the disappointment of their loss in the state finals, the com- petition and comradery made this season a lasting memory. With team effort and determination.
