ances Highlight The Year School isn’t all work! In order for stu- dents to release some of their stress ac- quired from excessive school work, many dances were sponsored. As a popular past-time of high school life, dances are always heavily anticipated and success- ful. There was the traditional Homecom- ing Dance” to welcome in the new school season. The festive Christmas Dance,” and the semi-romantic Valentine’s Day dance, appropriately called Sweet- hearts.” Plus there were the dances which ex- plore the other sides of life. Hawk Hoe- down” took us through Wrangler territory. MORP” led a crusade into low-life, and Preference” turned the commons into an ever-popular beach scene. The most formal (and expensive) dance of the year, Junior Prom” introduced high school students to a sophisticated life style. The dance was held at the Capi- tol Rotunda where people arrived in Mer- cedes, Jaguars and Limosines among other fashionable” cars. The cost of the Going in style. Dawn Warr. Jeff Fisher. Johnny Searle and Teresa Jensen en- joy their limosine ride. dance could range anywhere from $50 to $300 or more. Traditionally, the junior class boasts by choosing royalty from their class. After a rigorous week of nominations, prelimi- naries and final voting the winners were chosen. Lora Abraham was named queen and Cary Judy was named king. Sitting on Santa’s lap for pictures was just one of the enjoyable aspects of the Christmas Dance. 18 Dances
