Photo by Howard Smith “I believe a person's individuality comes from within, and if you remain •‘true,, to yourself regardless of whether you are involved in a clique or whatever, you can remain an individual. Some people are not happy unless they are involved in social activities, while others prefer to be alone. But who are we to say that just because people hang out” togeth- er they are not being themselves? Tammy Fox. CROWDS — they mean: darting in hallways, beat- ing rush-hour” locker traffic, building tremendous school spirit, forming a strong unity from which we gain a sense of belonging and succeeding in the establishment of true friendships. CROWDS of 1987 made their mark by giving each of us valuable experiences which enhanced our ma- turity and individual growth. You meet someone: you memorize his face: you say Hi;” you care about them. But. the most important thing of all is that you have to mean it. and then you’ve accomplished being yourself in all cliques without ever ‘joining’ one,” Lora Abraham. A true friend is someone who will give you his last whole piece of bub- ble gum,” Jenn Payne. 202 Closing Photo by Richard Kearl

I like attending such a large school because it’s easy for me to exist in anonymity,” Ben Valerio. “A positive feeling that I’ve experienced by being a part of a large group was attending football games. There was never just one person cheering; we all yelled together,” Racine Johnstun. Photo by Jason Taylor Photo by Howdid Smith Closing 201

‘‘Of course there are a few cliques, but I think most people simply have a group of friends that they are comfortable around. Everyone likes to be around people they are secure with. I don't think a group of friends is neces- sarily a ‘clique'.” t j : I don’t really care about what every- body thinks about me. It’s important to me to keep my individualism by dressing and acting how I want, not the way somebody wants me to. Suzanne Webster ‘‘I keep my individuality, in such a crowded school, by beina abnor- mal.” Matt Scott Closing 203
