Four years of high school, or as some have said, “the best time of your life.” Graduation, the Senior dinner dance, and SAT tests are all a part of a Senior’s last year in high school. It is a final prep- aration for our future lives. A move away from high school is a big step into a world that only adults talk of — one of paying bills, taxes, and coping with a career or family. What will life be like without A.P. tests, school assemblies dances, and cheering at games? A Senior, getting ready to graduate, has a lot of fears about facing a world away from high school. The friends who have always offered support and security won’t be around and can’t offer as much support as before. Parents have always been there to depend on. But a move from high school is a move into an inde- pendent world, and a strong sense of re- sponsibility and self-reliance are also ac- complished. Decisions, decisions ... These are all a part of a Senior’s life in general. Pressure is also a part of making decisions, be- cause everything a person has worked for in high school can be used to an advan- tage or left to be neglected by choices poorly made. Senior year comes between those of a teenager and those of an adult. Sadly, many think life is over with graduation, and you can never go back to the good times in high school. For some, gradu- ation is a new start on life, a chance to make new friends and experience new challenges. For others the future holds an exciting new career, only dreamed about before: a family or a continued education, such as college. The future is open to so many new experiences, and graduating from high school is just a door to be opened by a senior who is anxiously awaiting to be accepted into the adult world. Leading the Senior class of ’87 are Brad Jensen, Pres., Karmell Howell, V.P., Danny Ray, Sec., Steve Perry, Head Sen- ator, and class senators, Margie Alban, Diane Rasmussen, and Mike Summer. Striving for a successful year, these offi- cers sponsored the Senior Dinner Dance, Graduation, Christmas Dance, and the Senior Gift. “We, as Senior Class officers want to help make graduation a lasting impression, help Seniors to excel in all aspects of their education, and at the same time, unite the class of ’87, said Karmell Howell. Now, as the class of 1987 leaves Alta, they can turn their eyes to the future, sad that their high school days are at an end, but ready to face a challenge they have been well prepared for.
