The Juniors of the Alta high school were hosts and hostesses to the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet on April 21, 1956, at 7 p.m. The entrance was composed of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck displaying the banner entitled, Garden of Fantasy. The coat check was made up or latticed blue and white streamers, with an arched doorway en- twined with pink and red carnations. The side sections of the south wall depicted a storybook theme from Disneyland. The characters shown were Uncle Scroogeg Donald Ducky Grand- ma Duckg Daisy Ducky Huey, Dewey and Louieg Mickey and Minnie Mouseg Pluto, and Lady and the Tramp. The animated section displayed the scene of Minnie talking to Goofy in front of a little cottage. Uncle Scrooge, Grandma Duck, the three nephews, and Pluto by his dog house were spectators to the scene. A sloping grass hill led to the stage. Welcome Seniors was spelled out in colored carnations on the green slope. A stairway, bordered by rocks and flowers cut through the center of the hill and led to the stage. A statue of Donald Duck at the top of the steps resembeled a master of ceremonies. A white fence entwined with colored flowers bordered the stage. The ceiling was of French Blue and Light Blue streamers. The punch stand was decorated as an old stone wishing well, complete with the old oaken bucket. The north wall continued to carry out the storybook theme of Disneyland. Horace Horsecol- lar, Donald Duck, the three nephews, Pluto and the two little pups and Goofy thumbing a ride were all traveling the winding road to Fantasyland Castle. The west wall was a beautiful forest scene including green trees, a waterfall and colorful mountains. Many forest animals, a mountain pool and lovely flower beds completed the scene. Dumbo, the flying elephant, winked gayly at the guests from his perch high on the west wall of the gym. The center of attraction was a beautiful blue and white fountain in the center of the dance floor. Out of the high stone center flowed showers of sparkling blue water. The waiters and waitresses wore costumes re- sembling those of Peter Pang green shirts, yellow pants, and bright colored hats with a feather in them. These waiters and waitresses served the ban- quet dinner and acted as hosts and hostesses at the open house held on Saturday and Sunday after- noons. The music for the evening of dancing was fur- nished by Jimmy Smith and his orchestra. At inter- mission, a 'minstrel show was presented by sixteen freshmen students A very enjoyable evening came to a close at 11:45. tt' if if . ' . it R ggi? ' 1 SPONSORED BY ALTA COMMERCIAL CLUB

Six-thirty was the time. The gym was the place. Rhythm at Ran- dom was the theme. These all made up the start of the 1957 Junior-Senior Banquet. The gym was decorated to carry out the theme. The stage was a scene from the Gay Nine- ties. In the corner looking on was a policeman. Sipping sodas was a couple sitting at a table. Along the back of the stage was the bar and the bartender busily shining the glasses. On the wall hung two old-fashioned pictures. Down the south side were three scenes depict- ing music. The first was Childrens Lullabys with a scene from Hansel and Gretel, then the scene Golden Hymns. The scene was set in roll- ing fields with an altar in front with the words The Lord is My Shepherd. and following this This ories Are Made of scene was Rock 'n Roll. A familiar character, Elvis Presley, was placed there amidst instruments used in Rock 'n Roll bands. The front of the coat check was made to look like a sheet of music. As every- one came in the door they stepped on a keyboard. The west side depicted a t'Winter Wonderland scene in a city park. There was a park bench, the snow, a policeman and a couple. A snowman stood under one of the trees with his top hat gayly perched upon his head and a rabbit was at his feet. Along the north wall were small paintings for Music Through the Years. Starting this refrain of music was 1774 and The Beggars Opera to which George Washington might have danced. About a century later, in 1884, it was Wagon Wheels and moving westward. In 1917 we were engaged in World War I which brings up Over There. In thc roaring twenties The Charles- ton symbolized the music. So on down the years to the present age and the Rock 'n Roll craze and Party Doll. The punch stand was cleverly hidden in a juke box. In the cen- ter of the gym was The Money Tree. Angel hair made the tree glisten as a spotlight shone on it. The waiters and waitresses wore costumes of the Gay Nineties. At eleven-thirty dancing was over and the gym soon became deserted except for the memo- ries which lingered on. ,av-
