In October, the Chapter cooperated with the Commercial Club in sponsoring the Halloween Party. At the party, the FFA set up a Carnival which consisted of two ball throwing stands. We have a chapter gilt on contract with Jerry Mills and plan to put out another one. We have rented six acres of farm land from Barney Kindwall and plan to raise corn on it. The farm is set up under a farm manager plan. Ralph Watts is farm manager with James Otto and Bur- ton Johnson as his assistants. 4'- The Commercial Club has asked our Chapter to assist them in erecting a new welcome sign at the edge of Alta. Pictured on this page are sime of our members and their productive projects. They also have im- provement and supplementary farm practices. We initiated seven Freshmen into our Chapter. In contest and judging work very well. At Spencer we placed forty-four teams. As Correctionville out of fourteen teams and our hog and sheep teams topped their division. At the sub-district speaking contest we won first in Public Speaking and Ex- temporaneous Speaking, second in Parliamentary Procedure, and third in Creed Speaking. Earlier in the fall we toured the Sioux City stockyards, packing plant, and other points of interest. Our Agriculture teacher, Marvin Polzien. is a 1956 graduate of Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa. Mr. Polzien has served his country as a mem- ber of the Army M.P. Corps, He spent most of his time in Korea. Lake View, Iowa is his home town but now he resides at 517 W. Highway in Alta. Mr. Polzien teaches Agriculture I and Agri- culture II, He also has Adult Farmer and Young Farmer classes at night. , as Greenhands we have done eighth out of we placed first CHARLES PFALZGRAF A..- ,,,,,, iy . , I :gg ,X gggy 4 -avg , .- ALVERN MILLER 9 ,,,Q ...., t . sa L.
