CDR. LINCOLN MARCY, USN BIOGRAPHY OF COMMANDER LINCOLN MARCY, USN Lincoln Marcy was born in Worcester, Massa- chusetts, on 29 February 1916. He attended Nor- wich University in Vermont, and on 2 June 1939 graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy as on Ensign. For one and a half years following his gradua- tion, CDR Morcv served in the light cruiser PHILADELPHIA. In April 1941 he entered Sub- marine School in Connecticut and, upon gradua- tion in June of that year, reported to the USS SEA RAVEN in the Asiatic Fleet. CDR Marcy served in the SEA RAVEN during her first six war patrols, and was then ordered to the USS RON- QUIL as Executive Officer. In December of 1944 he reported to the USS SAILFISH as Command- ing Officer, serving therein until the end of the war. Since the war CDR Marcy has performed such duties as Aide to the Chief of Naval Personnel, CO of the USS CORSAIR, Head of the Enlisted Discharge Section of BuPers, Staff of Admiral (Earl of Mountbotten of Burma), Executive Of- ficer of the USS SAINT PAUL, and Head of Policy Control Branch, BuPers. For his wartime service, CDR Marcy wears the Navy Cross and the Bronze Star. BIOGRAPHY OF COMMANDER FREDERICK C. WILSON, JR., USN Frederick C. Wilson, Jr. was born on 1 February 1910 at Hartwell, Georgia. He graduated from Hartwell High School in 1929 and on 2 October 1930 enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After graduation from Submarine and Diesel School, CDR Wilson served in Submarines until December 1938, at which time he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Machinist. CDR Wilson was M Division Officer on board the USS VINCENNES (CA-44) when that vessel was sunk at the first battle of Savo Island. Ho has since served on the Staff of the Engineering Department of the Naval Training Center at Miami, as Engineering Officer of the USS KAS- KASKIA (AO-27), and as Executive Officer of the USS ALSTEDE from 1947 to 1949 under COMSERVPAC. In 1951 CDR Wilson completed a five term College Program at the University of South Caro- lina He then served as Executive Officer of the USS WARRINGTON (DD-843) and, after two years in that billet, was ordered to the Fleet Train- ing Center, Norfolk, as Precommissioning Train- ing Officer, during which time 36 ships were or- ganized and trained. CDR Wilson relieved as Commanding Officer of the ALSTEDE on 8 June 1956. On 6 November 1957, after a distinguished tour as skipper, he was relieved by CDR Lincoln Marcy. Among the many decorations CDR Wilson wears are the Good Conduct Medal with star, the African-Europe Area ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Area ribbon with two stars, and Expert Riflemen Medal. CDR. F. C.
