Administration Chuck Jackson served his first year as superintendentfprincipal, coming to Alsea from the Klamath County District. A major goal of mine this year was to concentrate on improving the image of the school in the eyes of the community, said Jackson. As part of this effort he requested teachers to send home weekly progress letters to parents, held two open houses, and small coffee hours in the community to discuss the school program and budget. Jackson also prepared the budget, which passed at the first election for the first time since 1978. Vince Drago was vice-principal in charge of attendance, and Jim Mullenix counseled students about adapting their course loads to their plans for occupations or further education. A . Staff In addition to their assigned teaching responsibilities mentioned on the academic pages, the teaching staff made extra efforts to enrich the school. Teachers coached athletic teams, took students to academic contests and on field trips, and taught special interest mini-courses at the semester. They also wrote letters regularly to students' parents, selected a student of the month to honor, and volunteered their help to build the playshed.
