Princzjualis' ,Message To the Students of Alpine High School in l95l4-55. Every year the faculty of your school has the op- portunity to see many boys and girls in many varied school situations. Each of these activities has its counterpart in the world outside of our school. Your teachers know that some students are able to get the greatest benefit from these learning situations, while others seem to shut their eyes and ears, as well as their minds and become as inanimate as the proverbial Ubump on a log. The result of conduct of this kind on the part of boys and girls literally tears the hearts of your teach- ers. Box Alu ALPINE TEXAS To The Student Body of Alpine High School: Each year I am grateful to be asked for a message to the student body. Each year I find youth and schools facing the same they are teachers over and in slight different guisesg problems and difficulties as beforeg usually and I hear devoted doing their best to help and guide our students past these hazards. I am more than ever im- pressed by Miraheau Lamar's classic remark that NAn enlightened citizenship is the guardian Angel of Democ- racy.n Should you then ask me to explain how this statement might affect your conduct, let me say that I pray that you will examine carefully and painstakingly the thoughts of others, particularly those who seek to induce you to some action which they advocate, and that you will not commit yourself to any action until you have satisfied yourself that what you purpose to do accurate. Then I pray that you will to stand by your findings until they your satisfaction to be wrong.
