SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY On August 19, 1954 we entered our Freshman year with 48 students. We elected Mr. N.P, Paschall as our class sponsor. We were very glad tohave Myrna Hargis and Linda Nance elected cheerleaders and Ted Lovett, Johnny Garland, Jo Ed Prit- chett and Donald Thorn to represent our class in basketball. Our class offic ers were: President - Hicks Wells, V. President - Clara Darnell, Reporter - Myrna Hargis, Secre- tary and Treasurer - Glenn Hale. During our Freshman year we lost Kay Hopkins, Sue Cavill, Ed Maness, James Wil- liams and Gail Tucker. We gained a new student, Donald Cleaver. On August 25, 1955 we entered the Sophomore year with forty in our class. We elect- ed Mrs. Myrtle Jones as our class sponsor. Our officers are President - Janice Towery, V. President - Wanda Taylor, Secretary - Jane Hargis, Treasurer - Linda Nance, and Report- er - Betty June Roberts. Those who did not return were Inez Todd, Joe Ed Pritchett, Rex Ramsey, Elizabeth Edwards and Georgie Newberry. Those dropping out in the first semester were Hall Wil- kinson, Vernie Turner and Charles Carroll. We were happy to gain two new students, Pa- tricia Snow and Betty Bazzell. We are proud to have Myrna Hargis and Lutricia Hale elected cheerleader. Clara Darnell was elected alternate cheerleader. Those representing our class in basketball are Ted Lovett, Donald Thorn, Howard Bucy and Johnny Garland. 20

Brenda Johnson We started as a group of fifty-three August twenty-ninth. We were divided into two groups. We elected our officers and our sponsor, Mr. D. J. Miller on September first. Billy Mitchell, Junior Fergurson, Tommy Lee, and Harold Ross went out for basketball this year. We were honored to have Sue Williams elected the Freshmen cheerleader. She and sev- eral others have stopped school. We now have forty-five freshmen looking forward to our soph- omore year. 22
