- AIIIE IIAWKI A Sadie Hawkins dance was spon- sored by the Senior Class. This was held on the night of November 10th. The mode of dress was patched jeans, plaid shirts and hats of every kind and shape. The girls asked the boys and the dance was a big success. .Ill l0ll BAR IIA CE On October 28th, the Junior Class held its Annual Junior Barn Dance. The western music was supplied by Jerry Starkel and his orchestra from Marlin The gym was decorated in a western theme with wagon wheels, bales of fragrant hay and tall cornstalks. Across the far end of the gym in huge letters was JUNIOR BARN DANCE. Dancing was from 9:00 to 12:00 and everyone present had a wonderful time. The dance was also a big financial success. 22

m Nick Campbell was elected to represent our I school at Boys' State last June IHIYS STATE Nick learned the importance of each individual in our Democratic way of government, as well as meeting many new friends. l R Nick fe e ls this was a ve r y worthwhile and 4 profitable experience. R S1 MARY K. l'0lt'l'Cll This year Mary K. Portch was chosen to represent Almira at the Lincoln County Fair, and also was selected to go to Girls' State. Mary K. was a member of the royal court of the Lincoln County Fair which was held on September 8-9 and 10. She attended various tours and appeared on radio and TV. As an Evergreen Girls Stater, Mary K. was sponsored by the American Legion Auxi- liary. She returned with memories of a very eventful and interesting week. I 2I sy
