l YEAR 'l0GE'l'llllIl STANDING: Be rnadine Heathman, Gerald Scammon, Duane Tolonen, Mary K. PortchSlTTING: Lorraine and Lorretta Castensen. CLASS llIS'l'0llY Dear Underclassmen, Just a note to tell that when we started to high school we were just as green as you were, but look how good we turned out to be! First off, we found ourselves bowing to every upperclassman, polishing shoes and even ducking our heads in a pan of cold water just for some apples. After all this excitement of initiation, we settled down and elected Duane Tolonen-President, Lorretta Carstensen-Vice-President, Mary K. Portch-Secretary Treasurer, Lorraine Carstensen-Reporter, and our advisor was Mr. Downie. For activity we held the Freshman Return party for the Sophomores. When we entered the school house as Sophomores, we had a little better idea of what to expect. Nick Campbell was elected President, Duane Tolonen-Vice-Pres- ident, Lorraine Carstensen-Secretary, Lorretta Carstensen-Treasurer, and Mary K. Portch was our class representative to the Student Council. Our biggest event was initiating the Frosh. We hald a food sale and had parties at various member's homes. Mr. Gillmore was our advisor for the year. The Barn Dance started off our Junior year. Our Junior Prom with the theme Moonlight and Roses was held with the gym decorated with picket fences and roses. A moon shone on these decorations. Goin Modern was our class Play presented in three acts. The last event of this year was the Junior-Senior Banquet. Officers for the year were President-Nick Campbell, Vice-President Ron Mallory, Secretary-Treasurer-Lorretta Carstensen, Reporters-Carolyn Frenn and Berna- dine Heathman, and our representative for the council was Duane Tolonen. Mr. Pfiefer was our class advisor. As Seniors, we entered the doors of A. H, S, for the last time, White Christ- mas was our theme for the Senior Ball held in December. Our play Men are Like Streetcai-s was presented during the year. Class officers were Millard Jones President, Duane Tolonen-Vice-President, Carolyn Frenn-Secretary, Mary K. Portch-Treasurer, Lorraine Carstensen-Reporter and Gerald Scammon represent- ed us at the student Council. Mr. Sanders was our class advisor. Ron Mallory left us to join the Navy in January of this year. Our class Motto is Don't Dodge Difficulties and colors are Blue and White. To the teachers go the memories of our talents and tabilities. To the underclassmen we leave our good manners, abilities to get into trouble and our way with teachers. I, Lorraine Carstensen, leave my ability to go with the boys from WSC to Darlene Ladwig. I, Nick Campbell, leave my basketball ability, Student Body President job, and ability not to go out with girls, to David Williams. I, Lorretta Castensen, leave my ability to go with out of town boys to Sharron Sutton. I, Duane Tolonen, leave my basketball ability to Roger Williams and my height to Sue Goss, hoping she can gorw a little taller. I, Mary K. Portch, leave my job as annual editor to Susan Sutton and my good grades to Dennis Buddrius. I, Gerald Scammon, leave my football ability to Gary Hyde and my height to John Short. I, Carolyn Frenn, leave my ability to go steady in high school to Magie Frederich and my brown eyes to Dennis Herdrick. I, Millard Jones, leave my Znd. base position in baseball to Fred Hyde and my ability to keep my mouth closed when it should be to Hank Benson. I, Bernadine Heathman, leave my driving ability to Mrs. Dunham to teach the underclassmen next year and my long hair to Betty Farrelly. We, Lorraine and Loretta, leave our vell queen position to Susan Sutton and Adelia Benson and our sax quartet positions to Roger Williams and Gary Hyde, hoping they can help continue getting superior ratings at the contests.
