YBUHRU UF EDUCHTIUH' The Alma School Board is the board-of-directors of our large corporation, the Alma Public Schools. They handle the financial, supervisory,and administrative parts of the or- ganization. The Board consists of five members: Mr. Earl Swett, Dr. Rex Wilcox, Mr. Stanley Vliet, Dr. Emery Remsberg and Dr. Earl Kirschbaum. Mr. Earl Swett is one president of the school board and has been a vital member of it approximately ll years.He has been in industryfor a quarter of acentury and is now vice- president of the Alma Trailer Plant. The Swett's and their two sons have lived in Alma for 2.5 years. Dr. Rex Wilcox is the vice-president of the school board and an Alrna resident of 17 years. He is a University of Michigan graduate. Dr. Wilcox is the father of two Alma High graduates, and two are still in the Alma Schools. Mr. Stanley Vliet is a well-known Alrnabusinessmanwho owns the Varsity Shop. He was born in Alma and is an Alxna High and Alma College graduate. At present he is secretary of the school board. The four young Vliet's all attend Alma Schools. Dr. Emery Remsberg is an osteopathic physicianand the school board treasurer. He has been a member of the board from 1942 through 1945 and was elected again in 1947. Three of the Remsberg's four children are in Alma Schools and the other is in college. Dr. Earl Kirschbaurn was elected to the school board in the fall of 1949. He has been practicing as a dentist for l7 years. Dr.Kirschbau1n and his three boys all are enthusiasts STUDENT COUHUIl of creative hobbies. The Student Council is the governing body of the school.
