ff S CP Q X? CLAS RQPHECY fi iq-3 ix Kaye Grimsley and I have worked ten hard years in Miami, Florida trying to save enough money to take a trip back to Alma to see our class- mates of '51, We don't have enough money to buy a new car so we must take my trusty 38 Chevyn, that I've had since I was a Senior. We had driven five days and pulled into Lincoln to see the Unfn sity. As the guide was showing us around, we almost got knocked over as we came by the Chemistry door. The guide said he would investigate to se, 'hy the kids ran out. Naturally, we followed him, and to our amazement there stood Carolyn Dodge. Carolyn told us that Mr. Hawley had taught her so much that she decided to teach Chemistry at the University and Mr. Hawkeye son was her most promising pupil. While talking to Carolyn the janitor, who was Maurice Cole came in. Maurice is working his way through college and enjoys Carolyn's Chemistry class very much. Saying good-bye, we hit the road once more. While going through Naponee to see the dam, our car started to steam from the rough roads, so we headed for the nearest farm house. As we pulled into the yard, six blonde, curly-headed youngsters came running toward the car. When we told them our troubles, they called for their mother to come help us. And who do you think it was! Charlotte Lennemgnn our old classmate who changed her name to Post early in June, 1951. Again we took off. As we neared the dam and marveled at the changes, we hired a guide to show us around. A man carrying a bucket of fresh cement bumped into us as we were looking at the spill way. We yelled 'Patn as we recognized our old classmate who was rebuilding the dam because of the slight flaw he noticed. As we sat eating dinner in the dining hall, we saw many strange faces, but we recognized our old classmate, Alice Vasey. Alice is Pat's private secretary and takes dictation at 200 words a minute. We again started on our way, leaving our two old classmates, and headed for our old home town--that was so dear to us--Alma. Upon deciding to visit the old schoolhouse, we found they were having a track meet. Alma was having it out with Oxford which was the best in Harlan County, so we were told. The Oxford coach was patting one of his boys on the back for completing the mile in four minutes flat. We took a closer look at the coach and found him to be one of our classmates, Eddie Fruit. As we were tdudxg to Eddie, a fellow came up, saying the boys were all in the pickup and ready to gog the driver just happened to be Bernard Hodge, the dare-devil driver in our Senior year. Walking down town we noticed the changes but found such a crowd around our favorite drug store we dould hardly get through. We asked a by- stander what all the commotion was about and he told us that Jolene Blum and Dorothv Anderson, after ten long years had finally saved enough from their salaries to buy the drug store from ban McCleery. A sign was being painted on the windows reading: Jolene Blum's Pharmacy and Dorothy Ander- son's Delicious Chocolate. Continuing to explore the town our attention was called to a little shack next to Haeker's Fur Store. nTough1eu Pond has started his own fur and tanning shop. nToughien says he catches the real McCoy. Missing one of our classmates, Clara Dyer, we decided to run down to Dyers' mansion to see if we could locate her. Her parents told us she was a student in a college located in Paris. She was getting ideas from the Paris models for her dress shop which she planned to buy after receiving the highest degree possible.
