Dr. Robert F. Topp— Provost It is an inspiring experience to witness the transition of an idea into reality, and even a greater thrill to be part of the process. As the Elliott Campus of United States International University evolves and the reali- zation of buildings, books, places, and people in the form of our students and faculty becomes real before our eyes, we who are participants can be thankful for the oppor- tunity of being part of the process. Quite soon added buildings, faculty, courses and students will enrich further campus life. But Elliott will never become a crowded, impersonal place to study, for that is part of the idea; many small campuses located strategically about the globe with San Diego the stateside center. Already our students are taking advantage of our over- seas campuses and the day will come soon when all students will be given the oppor- tunity to study in some other country where U.S.I.U. maintains a campus. Perhaps next year our first graduates will leave this campus or continue in one of our doctoral programs, but soon the name of Elliott Campus, United States International University, will be associated with our people who contribute to the welfare of the nation and whose lives are better for the education they received here. It is our firm intention and great hope that students who study here will be better people and live richer lives and serve society more effectivly for having been students on the Elliott Campus. But we wish also to have the daily experience of living and learning prove to be a warm, helpful experience to all who participate; students, faculty and administrators. Studying, learning, and working together we can cause each day to become a microcosm of the good life itself. ' Rf ' Off 13
