D0 You Like It? Dedicated to Miss Renna Ross Alliance High School is a stage, And all the students merely players: They have their study halls and their classes, And one student in four years Cor morelj Plays many parts, His acts being four periods. At first the freshman, wandering through the halls, Gazing at room numbers. , Then the studious sophomore with his books and Shining UD morning face, Creeping like a snail quite willingly to school. And then the mighty junior, strutting like a major Through the upper halls, nodding graciously to the lower classmen With an air of utter nonchalance made for his teachers' benefit. And finally - the humble, senior, full of strange ideas, Reminded of his unpaid dues, worrying over senior themes, Sudden and quick in comment, seeking that future vocation - Even in these days of progress UD. And so he plays his part. QApologies to Bill Shakespeareb Loofting Backwards Well, it's almost time for graduation. We entered high school un- aware of its pitfalls, entirely unaware of American history and civics, and Chaucer - also completely at a loss when there were 12A's around. We waded through our freshman year and entered the sophomore cycle Cone in which we became very studious, very impatient with the freshies, and very much in awe of the seniorsj. As juniors we were oblivious to everyone. Seniors were just l2B's and 12A'sg freshmen no longer existed, and sophomore was just a name. We floated through this era, at the end of which we gave our magnificent Mardi Gras prom. Being l2B's was a problem. We weren't real seniors, and the pompous 11A's tramped on our toes, but We managed to come through all right. Ah, but at last the final door is opened. We are 12A's! The mysteries and pitfalls of A. H. S. have been smoothed out. We are no longer afraid, we are 12A's, we are the ones. We are considerate but aloof with fresh- men, sophomores, and Cevenj juniors, for we are really busy, we have to conquer the world. We have to write senior themes, present a senior play, go to a prom, a banquet, and dances. We are the cream of society, We 12A's, and, up until the last minute of school, will maintain that standard. 27
