When Everyone Erzjeyeez' a Gremef Mardz' Graf We, as 11A's, gave the class of January, 1938, the thrill of a lifetime when We gave them the prom on the night of January 8, 1938. The prom, which was under the direction of Ann White, was disguised as a Mardi Gras. The gym, Where the dance was held, was aflame with brilliant streamers of crepe paper. Balloons of all colors hung from the ceiling. To add to the decorations there were hats of all shapes and forms perched upon everyone's head. Confetti and serpentine flowed through the air. What a gala occasion! Music for dancing was provided by the Rhythm Masters orchestra featuring the Big Apple. For those who did not dance, there were card games in progress. Jovial Bernadine Oliver acted as mistress of ceremonies for the floor show. Those participating in it Were Kay Glenwright, Bill Kelly, Lita Fer- nandez, Rosemary Martin, and Eugene Rollins. Doris Ringler and Helen Otto sang for some dances. c6W6en Me Moon Came Over Zee M0un!az'n77 The music stopped, the footlights came on, the house lights were dimmed, and the curtains began to part. It was Wednesday, December 14, 1938, and the senior play was commencing in the high school autditorium. The play, Three Cornered Moon, was a three-act comedy by Gertrude Tonkonogy. Kay Glenwright as Elizabeth Rimplegar, Dean Haramis as Dr. Allan Stevens, and Kenneth Gempler as Donald had the romantic leads. The part of Elizabeth's nimble-minded mother was played by Lita Fernan- dez. Arthur Dundon, Robert Wheaton, and James Kulka played the roles of Elizabeth's brothers, Douglas, Kenneth, and Ed, respectively. Kitty, played by Virginia Clark, carried on a comic love affair with Kenneth Rimplegar. Another comic element was centered around Jenny, the maid, played by Bernadine Oliver. Klee Boring took the part of the messenger boy. Ann White and William Hunter were the understudies. The play was under the direction of Miss Elisabeth Carson. The theme of the play concerns the love affairs of Elizabeth. Will she marry Donald or will she break their engagement? She chooses to break the engagement and marry Dr. Stevens. 23
