James Bartlett, Mildred Griswold, Sandra McClintock, Linda Stephens and Ronald Swarthout all started the curious adventure of school together. Over the years we have both gained and lost classmates. David Ford became a member of our 6th Grade and we are happy to say he has been a permanent classmate since then. As Freshmen, a new student joined us, this being Linda Jackson. For the most part our days of schooling have been happy ones. Almost all of the class has participated in band, chorus, basketball, cheerleading, Press Club, Student Council or Library Club. To raise money for our Senior Trip, we sold magazines, cards, pop at games and stationery. We also had dances, bake sales and suppers. We are grateful for the guidance and help from our teachers, principal and friends in achieving our high school diplomas. CLASS WILL James Bartlett- Ronald Swarthout- Dave Ford- Linda Stephens- Sandra McClintock- Mildred Griswold- Linda Jackson- I will the Cadillac to any fool who wants it. OUR TEAM By Fern Swarthout We shout, we cheer, We make with the noise, And look what for, Allentown’s Five Boys. There’s Fred, who’s tall, At center he plays. He shoots a set shot, Thru the hoop it does blaze. Ron is a forward, He’s quick and he’s sure. Outsmarts the opponents, And comes in to score. Then there is Jerry, Really playing to win. He never quits trying, Tho chances grow slim. Jim fights for the ball, He jumps and he passes. Then there’s a mad scramble, WhoopsJ There goes Jim’s glasses. Last we have Gary, A guard and what’s more, The visitors just hate, To meet him on the floor. These FIVE make OUR TEAM. They play with their hearts, Altho they are winless, In all of their starts. Coach does what he can, He praises, he scolds. But to five tired boys, Nothing helps them make goals. The Cheerleaders yell, Boys, boys raise that score, And then there’s a basket, But they yell, WE WANT MORE Then it's all over, Four quarters have passed, The visitors are happy Our team depressed. It takes lots of courage, Many would have quit, To win not a game, Yet play on, takes ’’grit’’, I think we should praise, our Allentown Five, To me they’ll always be, Five wonderful guys GIRLS’ ATHLETICS Top row: Patricia Pieifce, Linda Stephens, Judy Williams Rosanne Green Bottom row: Mildred Griswold, Judy Campbell, Mary Lou Richmond, Linda Jackson, Sandra McClintock, Virginia Ford CHORUS Top row: Patricia Pierce, Judy Stenhens, Allen Dannheim, Jack Wood James Bannister, Nancy Stenhens, Frank Bacon, Sue Green Bottom row: Cheryl Conley, Caroline Phelps, Virginia Ford, Judy Williams, Sandra McClintock, Mary Lou Richmond, Catherine Brown, Mary Lee Taylor, William Root SOCCER Top row: Richard Kemp, James Van Druff, Jack Wood, Fred Taylor, Dennis Chapman, Eldon Stenhens,Jerry Hilliard Bottom row: Coach, Gary Swarthout, Jim Bartlett, Ron Swarthout, Dave Ford, Ken VanDruff ANNUAL STAFF Left Side: Miss Sullivan, Linda Jackson, Rosanne Green, Mildred Griswold, Patricia Pierce, Jerry Hilliard, Sandra McClintock, Virginia Ford Right Side: Ron Swarthout, Judy Williams, Linda Stephens, David Ford, Clifford Brown, Gary Swarthout, (Absent) Sandra Jackson The Yearbook Staff wishes to express their hope that everyone will enjoy and proudly remembernThe Derrick of 1959 We, the staff have enjoyed assembling and perfecting this yearbook.
