! ll QD - MKIEMUD ll ll - 4919 CLASS HISTORY '00 On September 10, 1945, nineteen green freshmen entered A. H. S, In October another student joined them making twenty. The class elected their officers who were: Ruth Richardson as Presidentg Bill Sparks as Vice-President, Jo Ann Brinkley as Treasurer. They chose Miss Roberts as their sponsor. Quite a number of Freshman boys went out for sports their first year. Omer Banks, Bill Sparks, Bernard McFarland, David Dicus, and James Watkins were out for basketball. Jerry Potts was the manager of the team. Jo Ann Brinkley was a cheerleader that year. Then came spring and a vacation. We started on Sept. 2, 1946, as sophomores with 21 members. But we soon dwindled down to seventeen. We chose the following class officers: President, Bill Sparks, Vice-President, Rose Marie Dudley? Secretary and Treasurer, Jo Ann Brinkley. We also selected a party committee of three: Omer Banks, Don Price, and Mary Louis Hipsher. Mr. Busenhart was chosen as our sponsor. We had several boys out for basketball that year: Jerry Potts, Bill Sparks, James Watkin, Bernard McFarland and Don Price. Jo Ann Brinkley was our only cheer- leader. Several of our class made the Honor Roll. We had several in the different organizations such as the Library Staff, N. N. Staff, Pep Club, F. F. A., Science Club, Glee Club, Octette, etc. The Junior Class was called back to school on Sept. 1, 1947. There were 14 members. Soon after school started, we elected Mr. Davidson and Miss Betty Yarber as co- sponsors. Our officers for the year were: Bill Sparks as Presidentg Rose Marie Dudley as Vice-Presidentg 'Ann Madden as Secretary, Jo Ann Brinkley as Treasurer. In October we held a Pumpkin Carnival which many people attended. Then, in December our Junior Play came off. Its title was The Baby Sitter. Our Junior-Senior Banquet, which was held in May had the theme Dixie. There was a nice program with negroes and whites singing. Afterwards the floor was cleared and dancing began. We all enjoyed ourselves. We were in various activities this year and had two cheerleaders, J o Ann Brinkley and Mary Louise Hipsher. We started our senior year with sixteen members. We dropped two and gained one which left us with fifteen. Our officers were: Bernard McFarland, Presidentg Rose Marie Dudley, Vice- President g Ann Madden, Secretaryg Jo Ann Brinkley, Treasurer. Rose Marie Dudley was chosen as the annual editor. Ann Madden was the editor of the News Nest. A few members made the basketball team. Jerry Potts was the captain. Jo Ann Brinkley was a cheerleader. We gave the play, Let Me Out of Here with 3 acts in April. Our last exams were given in May. Then came Baccalaureate and Commence- ment.
