Y enviou s N 4 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY '33 1943 - 1944 On September 1, 1943, eighteen students made their debut at Allendale High School. The class first elected their officers as follows: president, Carl Shepardg vice- president, Gretchen Hipsherg secretary, Betty Lou Saltsgaver. Mr. Bates was our class sponsor. We had three successful parties during this year. We- had a number of boys out for sports this year. They were as follows: Bob Robinson, Bill Wolfe, Wayne Spidel, and Junior Enlow. Gretchen Hipsher was a yell leader and Carl Shepard was Man- ager of the basketball team. 1944 - 1945 We began our Sophomore year in Allendale High School on September 1, 1944. There were fifteen enrolled in all. One member joined our class later, making sixteen. We chose Mrs. Siefried as our class sponsor. In November we had our first class party. We went to the Vincennes Skating Rink. The only accident happened when Robinson fell and busted his trousers. Three quit when we were Sophomores so we now had twelve. Our class officers were president, Bob Robinsong vice-president, Bill Wolfe: secretary-treasurer, Carl Shepard. 1945 - 1946 We, the jolly juniors, started our official third year, September 10, 1945. There were still twelve of us. We elected the following class officers: president, Martha Corrieg vice-president, Gretchen Hipsherg secretary-treasurer, John Watkin. We had a very successful year in which we had a banquet for the junior class, also a prom which had never before been presented in the history of Allendale High. We pre- sented our junior play The Mystery House. Miss Elkins was our sponsor. 1946 - 1947 At last sophisticated seniors. W-e ran the place for a while and then turned it back to the teachers. We chose Mr. Atkinson for our class sponsorg Bob Robinson, presidentg Gretchen Hipsher, vice-presidentg John Watkin, secretary-treasurer. Our class sold magazines and Chrisimas cards to help finance the annual. Again we have several from the class interested in sports. They were as follows: Bill Wolfe lcaptain of the teamj, Bob Robinfon, Carl Shepard, and Wayne Spidel. Donald Burris was the manager of the basketball team. We also had two cheer leaders from the class, Gretchen Hipsher and Martha Corrie. Kate Higgins was president of the pep club. Carl Shepard was president of the F.F.A. John Watkin was the editor of the News Nest.
