A History of Our Class The Senior Class of 1968 took five great steps on their road to success. Our first step was rather crowded with 142 naive eighth graders. We were represented by Lon Whitlow-president, Barbara Meador-vice-president, Lereasa Rather-secretary and treasurer, Sherrill Elmore and Peggy Wilson-reporters, and Norris Wagoner- sergeant-at-arms. The biggest event of this year was the class trip to Mammoth Cave on November 22nd, The second step we took as 162 frightened freshmen. Our chosen leaders were: president-Lon Whitlow, vice-president-Greg Carver, secretary-Lereasa Rather, treasurer-Barbara Meador, reporters-Beverly Tracy and Lex Carter, and sergeant-at-arms-J oe Costello. The outstanding highlights of this year were the trip to Park Mammoth, the freshman party, and our Fall Festival victory with Beverly Tracy being crowned Queen. Just 144 silly sophomores took the third step. We broke tradition this year by taking a trip to Louisville for a ride on the sternwheeler, The Belle of Louisville. We enjoyed our meal at the Kingfisher and the movie, The Sound of Music, We were ably lead by president Beverly Tracy, vice-president Brenda Morgan, secretary Lereasa Rather, treasurer Barbara Meador, reporter 'Brenda Murley, and sergeant-at-arms Jimmy Smith. Only 127 of our number succeeded in our ascent up the fourth step. As jolly juniors we were led by Billy J ohnson-president, Lon Whitlow-vice-president, Peggy Wilson-secretary, Billy Neal-treasurer, Donneta Frost and Lex Carter-reporters, and Terry Lyles-sergeant-at-arms. The end of the year brought the class trip to Lookout Mountains and the Junior-Senior Prom. In August of 1967, 136 ascended our fifth and final step at Allen County High. Memories of this year will include the most successful magazine sales campaign in the history of our school, ordering and receiving our class rings, the senior play, our Halloween party, announcing the top ten percent of our class, preparing for the graduation week activities, and finally our class trip to Washington, D.C. The senior class president was Don Williams. He was competently assisted by vice-president-J oe Costello, secretary-Beverly Tracy, treasurer- Brenda Morgan, reporters-Brenda Murley and Lex Carter, and sergeant-at-arms-Terry Lyles. This being our final step at Allen County High, nature draws us apart. Some will go to college, some will seek jobs, others will get married or many will be called to the service of our country. No matter which step we take next as individuals, we always want to be together as a whole-the graduating class of 196 8. Only the memories of our high school days here at Allen County High will hold us together as we step further up life's staircase. Compliments of The Rotary Club Scottsville, Kentucky
