li EETI B5 This book is published with mixed emotions. First thoughts were that, to use even a small amount of critical materials would to some extent slow the war effort. On the other hand, our government has set aside limited quantities of these materials for this purpose. Our govern- ment believes that a continuation of an activity of this kind tends to boost morale at home and better enables us to tackle real war time tasks with a determination that might not be present otherwise. Former Allegany students now in the service are unanimous in one comment when writing back to school. They get much satisfaction out of school news as is forewarded to them by personal letter, Alcohi Mirror, and Alco Letter League releases. The yearbook is a composite picture of the school for the full year and tends to perpetuate a continuous story of school life. The staff sees opportunities for training embodied in Allegany which will better enable its students to participate in the post-war period. lt is this thought that spurs them on to present the 1944 Allegewi. May it give satisfaction to its sponsors and inspiration to all of its readers. Ralph R, Webster, Principal
