OVEWOI' OLLOXYING the tradition of preceding classes. another issue of the Allderdice Yearbook, filled with memories of our high school career, has been published. Our school days have been full and happy ones, completing one phase of our social and academic education. Now we stand ready to take the education life may offer us. Unfortunately, life of today is chaotic as we are facing a world of strife. Therefore, representative of the youth of today, acutely aware of our existing responsibilities and bravely willing to accept them, we have attempted to embody in this our l944 Journal, the sentiment and happiness of our high school days. May this book in the future, serve as the connecting link with our very pleasant school past. lVhat sadness at the parting of the ways, For what has passed is gone, yet it is not For all the victories gained will remain won, And all the valiant battles remain fought. The heavens may cloud and all the stars may set, The earth and all its beauty fade away: But the ineffaceable spirit of the years here passed As long as heart will beat, with us will stay. The sun goes down, the red blaze fades afarg The Vanities and the trifles do but meltg Thus ends an epoch writ in stone: a day Is gone, but its warmth is forever felt. And now with humble eyes we greet the dawn. And grasp the burning brand into our hands thrust, For it must shineg our task to shield its flame: And with one voice: HlVe can, we will, we must! 4
