CLASS HISTORY In August of 1982. we the Freshman class enrolled in our first year of high school'. Kelly O'Leary. Joel Jackson. Cindy McBreairty, Lila McBreairty. Helen McBreairty. Tracy O'Uary. Michael Ruhetello. Bobby Hafford, Mitchell Pelletier. Roger Kelley. Sleien Wilson, and Julie Sullivan. As we entered our sophomore year, we welcomed Julie Jackson to our class and Julie Sullivan equaled our group back to twelve as she left to live in Bangor. Having accomplished very much the first two years, we anxiously awaited ourJunior year at Allagash High. Bobby Hafford left to seek employment and Julie Jackson never returned to the junior class, and Cindy McBreairty transferred to Fort Kent High. We were glad to see Troy Jackson and Keith Pelletier join our class making the total number of students in the junior class ten. Keith found work in Van Buren and never returned to our class. This left us with a small number of nine: Kelly O'Leary, loel Jackson. Lila McBreairty. Helen McBreairty. Tracy O'Leary. Michael Ruhetello. Mitchell Pelletier. Roger Kelly, and Troy Jackson. 2 The Senior Class proudly dedicates the 1986 yearbook to Mr. is always available to any who have problems or need advice. In two years as our coach, he has taken the Allagash boys to respect and we wish him well in the future. ■dan. He has taught here at Allagash for two years and the Bdftgor Tournament twice. Mr. Jordan enjoys our complete J Secretary Linda McBreairty Principal Al Feero PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE I wish the graduating class of 1986 the greatest success and happiness in accomplishing your aims in life. The four years you have spent at Allagash High School have been characterized by extremes. You have demonstrated that you have the ability to be outstanding when you apply yourself. I feel your greatest need is to identify goals in life and then apply the fortitude and capability that each of your possess. Air. Urban Feero I expect to hear of great achievements from the class of 1986. 5 Basketball — 9. 10, II, 12 Softball —8. 9, 10 Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim. Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same And both that morning equally lay In leaes no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. 6 i Basketball — I. 3. 4 Soccer — 1, 4 Yearbook Staff— 4 Student Council — 3.4 National Honor Society — 3,4 THE SECRET HEART Across the years he could recall His father one way best of all- in the stillest hour of night The boy awakened to a light. Half in dreams, he saw his sire With his great hands full offire. The man had struck a match to see If his son slept peacefully. He held his palms each side the spark His love had kindled in the dark. His two hands were curved apart In the semblance of a heart. He wore, it seemed to his small son, A bare heart on his hidden one, A heart that gave out such a glow No son awake could bear to know. It showed a look upon a face Too tender for the day to trace. One instant, it lit all about, And then the secret heart went out. But it shone long enough for one To know that hands held up the sun. Robert P. Tristram Coffin 7 8 Student Council — 9. 10 President — 10 Secretary — 11 LOVE Just saying that “I love you” doesn't Mean a thing at all For loving words fly like the birds When they hear winter's call Love is a thing that proves itself A thousand times a day In the simple little things you do And the little things you say Love is a thing called sacrifice, A tonic when you're blue Love is the joy of doing things for Someone dear to you. 9 Nick Kenny They said you'll never make it,” And I thought that they were right But I kept on plodding onward, Because I thought I might. And they shook their heads in wonder That I lacked the sense to quit But I held my chin up higher, And I didn't mind a bit. They said, you 'll never make it, ” As the problems multiplied But I had to make an effort And to know at least I tried. So I dug my heels in deeper, Though sometimes my spirits lagged And I shouldered what was lightest, And the rest I sort of dragged. And I found to my amazement At the ending of the day That what they said I couldn't I had managed anyway. It only took three little words, Teacher help me.” and I rid Myself of doubt and all they said I'd never do . . . But did. 10 Student Council — 11. 12 basketball—9. 10. 11. 12 basketball Co-Captain — 12 Soccer Captain — 12 Lost: yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered, for they are gone, forever. Horace Mann To endure is greater than to dare ', to tire out hostile fortune; to be daunted by no difficulty; to keep heart when all have lost it; to go through intrigue spotless; to forego even ambition when the end is gained — who can say this is not greatness? East school year we had the largest yearbook on record with 96 pages of pictures and local interests. This was primarily due to two individuals, Kaye Hafford and Lana Pelletier. Kaye is currently attending the University of Maine at Fort Kent and Lana, at Colby-Sawyer in New Hampshire. God Bless! This year we got off to a slow start but managed to pull through with the help of several industrious underclassmen who volunteered to put in the extra time needed for a quality yearbook. As some of you may or may not know, a yearbook requires much time, effort, and planning to meet deadlines. We are obviously limited in such a small school as Allagash High School in gelling people who are truly willing to put in the extra effort and time to lay out a 64 page yearbook such as we have this school year. Our plan for the future is to recruit and train underclassmen to organize and plan a yearbook. When they become seniors, we will not have to rely so heavily on a few individuals who do most of the work. Again, to all personnel who helped on the yearbook this year, I say Thanks. Without you help there would be no yearbook and seniors would have little to reflect upon, other than their own memories of friends, events, faculty, and the shcool in general. The yearbook attempts to tie alt these together, even so-called “unpleasant memories and relate these to one's own journey in life. As Carl Sagan said in his book Cosmos, “We are creatures of the Cosmos: Searching.” Wherever the path leads for the seniors, may it be a wise choice on their part. 24 2 5 Best Looking Best Dressed Jana Soucy Lowell Gardner Jana Soucy Lowell Gardner Friendliest Troy Jackson Jana Soucy Trever O'Leary Best Personality Jana Soucy Troy Jackson 26 Most Ambitious Most Likely to Succeed Jana Soucy Kelly O'Leary Jana Soucy Kelly O'Leary Quietest Loudest Corrinna Pelletier Lila McBreairty Ronnie Pelletier JoelJackson 27 luLLlitV aiuivutv Laura McBreairty Kelly O'Leary Corrinna Pelletier Eamie Gardner LilitV aULUil'LL: L LLrLrLtV LiiUiJlt Jana Soucy Poppy Crawford Kelly O'Leary Richard Streeter 28 Teachers' Pets Class Clowns Jana Soucy Kelly O'Leary Alison Crawford Lowell Gardner !??S JYTENC .
