SECRETARY: Mrs. Dorothy Gardner SUPERINTENDENT-PRINCIPAL Mr. Garfield C. King Members of the Class of 1968. when we first met you were in the third grade. At that it would have been difficult to invision this class as you are today: sophisticated Seniors, well favored, competant, young men and women about ready to step forward to make your way in a demanding world. The change is nothing less than miraculous, and because the size of our school district created student-teacher relations that are hardly possible anywhere but here in Allagash. I have been priviledged to watch the entire process as few educators have. Let us look back on what has taken place for there is a lesson to be learned. For nine years we have almost unknowingly watched fantastic changes occur. Physically, I watched a number of children pass through the ages, stages, and phases which are the metamorphosis of human kind: producing in the end that butterfly of a human being that exists for such a short while between the desire to become and the desire not to become. Scholastically I have watched them progress from grade to grade overcoming each obstacle and frustration until now you are about to grasp the paper trophy worth so little yet valued so highly. You watched a beginning young teacher slip physically from the prime of life to tetter on the rim of middle age as he collected the advancements that are the reward for growing older in service. So over the years I have been your teacher, your principal and now in the years of your triumph I am also your superintendent. Farewell, Class of 1968
