YICTORIES 6 LOSSES December 12, 1944--All Saints vs. Mt. Morris 26-58 All Saints' team lacked experience, when they were downed by mt. Morris, the out-of-town county- school, at the opening game of the season. At the half, the Saints took lead, 18-17, but could not hold their position. They were led by Dan Urbanik, with ll points, while Jendell sulliun.was high with 17 points for Mt. Morris. All Saints Reserves slimly lost 21-20. ' January 5, 1945---All Saints vs. Flint St. Mary 16-15 The Saints Quint took lead in the Victory and Parochial lead, by downing St. Mary's 15-15. it was a result of a fine defensive chore, when Joe purzycki sank in a free throw for the Quint. Center Jim Roesner's work on the boards glittered for the saints. The Reserve game was won by gt. Mary, E7-25, altho Que Sykes put in 14 points. January 9, 1945---All Saints vs. St. Matthews 25-18 The Saints clung to top place when they defeated st. Hatt's. The Matt's'trai1ed at the half, 12-ll, but at the third period, the Saints brought up the score 19-14, later widened the margin in the final session. Urbanik led with 10 points, followed closely by Steve Magiera with 8. Ted Stawasz' free throw gave The Reserves an overtime victory. - January 12, 1945--All Saints vs. .ju S. DZ . T 51-34 The Saints lost in an overtime tusslc against H.S,D after attaining top lead in Parochial ind Victory Luafuc An exciting rams, but Dan Urhmnix, with a remaining nc- cond, muffed a foul, also three fre: throws wer, miss.J in the overtime session. Jim Rocsncr topped all with ll points, UrbaniK proceeding with 10. Reserve jams lost by the Saints, 21-19.

BASKEzBALL HIGHLIGHTS The fact of our coech leaving us was not the only blow which we encountered. Eddie uHumban Jegel one of the most experienced players on last years squad was ineligible for the first half year, be- cause of studies. He made up ell studies necessarv and resimed his pleyinf in February. Another Caper e for the Gold-and Blue was Ton? nBaldyn Sarhan, who because of little income, left school to take a war plant job. Still another reculsr this year took s job managing the storsge department ofFerris Brothers. The only regular left from lest years team be- cause of the departure of the three, is Danny Urbenik. The quint is depending heavily on Jim Reeeneife rebound ing. Here he teams up with Joe uPlumberN Purzycki the most improved player on the squad in a years tive. outside of the lest yesrs reserved squad he did ntt D1 any basketbell, but this year started QS forward fcr the Gold and Blue. The only senior on the teem is Ted nMousen Koza, who has been an asset to the tegm 'or s number of years. . The squads guard positions went to the Meeiera Brothers, Eugene and Steve, Senior and Junior re- spectively. They made e splendid combination for the Saints. Steve nLittle Magh is the only Junior on th starting five end also the smallest standing et 5' 4 gnother Junior who has the best left-handed shot on the team, is Elias Deibis, who is being heavily de- pended upon. Cther Juniors w'o contribute their efforts to the team are: Joe Kaftan, Tony Godlesky, Albin uPopeyen Bednerski, and leest we forest , Ted Marine Zbiciak, the fruit stend kid, who has been a ? hard vorker under the boards for the reserves. The Deedeye of the school, Walter UGusN SYKQS, a sopho- more who stands at 5' l , endfhas been promoted to play on the Varsity Team. In future years, the Varsity will consist fo such players as: Billy Ckel Tony Lechota, Ted Stawasz, Frsnk Voifht, Butch Puoilowski, Frank Jankowski and others who compose the reserve team at present. VICTORIES E LOSSES January 16, 1945-p-A1 ,Saints vs. Beecher 44-31 This game was an easy game to take. Dan Urbanik hit it for 18 points, Jim Roeener also playing fine hall. In the third session the quint epurted 13 points, to net the 50-16 margin over Beecher. The Reserve team lost to Beecher 26-20. January 20, 1945--All Sainte vs. Flint Tech 19-26 Through much greater height, Flint Tech turned on steam in the last muarter of the game to take ue 26.19. During the first quarter, Tech benefited from the Sta. Bad passing, but after the half, the Blue and Gald were ahead 13-17 from the successful left-handed snot put in by Dyke Diehie. Urtanik was put out on personal fouls. Reserves lost, Gus Sykes tossing in 12 points. January 23, 1945---A11 Sainte vs, St. Ui:hael'e St. Mikes dropped the Blue and Gcld Quintet, 27-25 which gave them the Parochial League lead. ,The Saints muffed 10 out of ll free throws, causing the lose. Reserve game was won by St.N1kes althou Gus Sykes made 15 points. January 50, 1945---All Saints vs. Mt. Torris 24-26 It was our third loss in a row, when Vr. Vorrie beat us tUEt 30th day of January at Berston. It was a close game, but they had their luck, Dan Urk nik teased in B points, playing good hall. -At the half the score was 15 to 7. Our reaerve team won 16-15. February 2, 1945-All Sints ve, Central Qecervee 35-22 There was no difficulty in taking the gan: afvinst Central Qeeervee. The Sainte :hed away to a ld-2 Juan- IDE. Again Den Urhcnik topned all with higc Mcorig' wee of ll points. Steve Vagiera following with 3, and Ui Jagel with 6.
