PEECH A D DEBATE POSTS WIN N NFL The Speech and Debate Club represented Alisal with large amounts of talent and logic in competition in the National Forensic League. The team traveled to such cities as King City, Soquel, l-larbor and Claremont. gathering points for their NFL standings and wins for Alisal. Xlany fine performances were shown repeatedly by veterans Yiona lfpperson, Llesse Sanchez. and Nlary Lowe. The club was also active on campus, they sponsored successfully a snow cone sale, a mistletoe sale, and a pickle sale. President: Lyndon Wlhite, Vice President: Tony ,-Xcierto, Secretary and Napolean Lisla, Treasurer. Their advisor was Nl r. Ponting. The Chi-ckers'Club spciiisored the concession booths for the Lightweight Reserve and l,ightweight football games. They also gave their annual one hundred dollar scholarship to a deserving senior in their club. This was the club's fifth year in sponsoring scholarship. The officers this year of the California Scholorship Federation were Linda Teague, President: Don Siababa, Vice President, Nina Sum. Secretary: and Flora Albano and ffleanore Lang, Treasurers. Mrs. Meeker and Nlrs. Cobbley were the sponsors. Many of the school-wide activities which CSF participated in were presenting assemblies, providing tutorial service in the local schools, and ushering at concerts. A one-hundred dollar scholarship was provided for a deserving student. The annual field trip to San Fransisco was one of the highlights of a most profitable year. ICALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATIONJ Mr. Otto Kimball was sponsor of the National Honor Society this year. The officers were ,Iohn Shumaker, President, Ray Scott, Vice President: Vicki Steele, Secretary, and Debbie Shirrel, Treasurer. The purpose of this organization was to create enthusiasm for scholarships, to stimulate interest to service in school, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the members of the school. Their numerous fund raising activities were centered around service, scholarship, character, and leadership. The NHS travelled to the Pinnacles near Hollister for a most rewarding spring field trip.
