JUNIOR GRIDSTERS RUN INTO TOUGH COMPETITION This year the Junior Varsity team, led by coaches Bob Enea and Milton Pickford, ran into stiff competition. Bowing to cross-town rivals Salinas and North Salinas, the Trojans fought with determination in all of their games. The team had a taste of victory in their encounters with 13-6 and 26-8 scores respectively. Due to Bobby PaIma's injury in the Santa Cruz game, sophomore Gary Schroeder stepped in and displayed his fine skills at quarterback. Also in the Santa Cruz game, Bernie Grant did a superb job by making twenty tackles. In the Aptos contest, Palma led the team to a tie by making two touchdowns in the last five minutes of the game. Other team members cited for fine performances were John Shumaker, Gene Patterson, Greg Stefani, Gil lVlollindo and Danny Cunningham, who was moved to Varsity in mid-season. Gene Simpson is being pursued by two Cowboys.
