ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Bigger and Better in '70. That was the idea of the creation of this year's publication of the Alisal High School Trojan '70. Showing more quality with a bigger book is what the staff of the yearbook attempted to perform. This year, the size of the book was increased considerably over las year's size. lVlost of the high school annual publications are standard 82 X 11 , IVlost major colleges have discovered that the bigger size, 9 X 12 , is much more effective in publications, and we in turn have deviated toward the use of this bigger and better size. As for the better aspect of this year's publication, there are a few new ideas which have been incorporated into this year's production. IVlore special effects can be seen throughout the book along with different concepts such as more spot color, high contrast photographs, and an overall better planned construction. Something new this year are the faculty candid shots. Instead of the normal formal shots, we attempted to capture each member of the faculty, administration, and staff in their actual poses. This idea is one which should help in identifying teachers much more readily. A differently arranged Organizations section is something we think is better this year. Using candid shots and copy blocks to help explain what club is and does is an idea which, although involving a tremendous amount of work on the part of the Organization editor, is a truly effective and helpful idea. Also, candids throughout the class sections tend to lend a bit of reflection on the past year. A different advertisement section was employed this year which seems to create a personality of its own throughout this section. To top the entire layout off, different dividers were used this year. Instead of the conventional division, the natural separations of Fall, Winter, and Spring were used. The person who seemed to initiate these ideas quite clearly and readily was a newcomer to the Yearbook publication scene. Graduating from Cal Poly in 1968, IVlr. John Angelo initiated the idea of creating a different type of book instead of the traditional and conventional publication. Avidly supported and developed by the Yearbook staff, many varied and different ideas were mulled over before they were actually put into effect. Any place where a fresh approach could possible be used, it was used. And the staff to experiment with these new ideas couldn't have been better. Being virtually untrained, they were fresh, eager, and able to learn the basic fundamentals while injecting and maintaining fresh ideas throughout the year. There are many thanks to be delivered to many people, and everybody who was remotely identified with this year's publication. I really wish to thank you. This year, due to a shortage of experienced manpower, several of the experienced members of the class were serving editorships in more than one capacity. Special thanks go to them and their assistants for creating a book that represents Alisal High School. lVly special thanks go to Richard Kelly, Georgeanne Wence, Jeff Taylor, Rose Fosheee, lVlax Zabala, Kathy Quigley, and Buss Kramer. I would also like to thank the entire Yearbook class for their individual efforts. , Special occasion photography was done by Hurl Swartz Studios. A debt of gratitude is owed to this establishment. Bogue's gallery pictures were delivered by Staedler Studios, who did an excellent job in their capacity. Senior portraits, individually taken, were excellent this year as they have been in the past. A special thanks to IVlr. Kearney for his cooperation in producing this book. And a very special salute to IVIr. John Angelo, who did a tremendous job in guiding this book to the goals it has attained. Sincerely Mae . Ed Begun Editor-in-chief 263 ,
