Huff, P. Mazzuca, A. Pemberton, D. Cunningham D Kendricks, R. Geissler. i VARSITY The Varsity Basketball team, under the direction of Coach Cork Haddan, produced a 22-2 vvon-loss record this year. This record is the best-ever at Alisal High School. The team also won the first undisputed Varsity Championship by taking the M.B.L. crown. The success of the team is credited to the fine coaching of Mr. Haddan and the fact the team members played as a trained, effective unit, each member a master in all phases of the games. This is best shown by the balanced attack which enabled the team to eclipse the century mark habitually. Danny Cunningham and Mark Haddan were continually battling for rebounding honors, while Haddan was battling with the rest of the team for high-point honors. Mark Huff and George Martinez played this season as if the pros were observing. Masters of all facets of the game, both Huff and Martinez proved invaluable. Bill Schroeder, defensive super-star, was the key man many times to Alisal's winning games. Although specializing in defense, he was on the starting five-all of whom scored in double-figures in the M.B.L. Although many teams have one super-star to depend upon, Alisal had five starting super-stars and seven more back-up stars-all of which insured a first place team. 112 HOOPSTERS REIGN SUPREME IN M.B.L George Martinez fights his way to make two points.
