Class History ln September of 1943 students began coming into the high school from all directions. Those climbing the hill looked forward to doing it for four years. As we sat in the gym waiting for home- room assignments, little did we know what was to follow, although we had our suspicions. After receiving regular homerooms, we began to try to acquaint ourselves with the rules and regulations of the school. Naturally, becoming quite confused, we approached upper classmen and asked their aid. Much to our discontentment we were dubbed with the name Freshies and were sent on our way, often with wrong directions. We weren't in the fog too long and soon learned the ropes, even those of cutting classes on the last beautiful days of fall. Since the war was still going on, a well recognized statement among the students on test days was, Gee, l wish we have an air raid dril today. As May came around we looked forward to our summer vaca- tion, hating to leave the kids but eager for a rest and to dream of our sophomore year. As always is the case, the class diminished in size, but the remaining ones worked hard to keep up with the class. Being considered in the senior group, we had the privilege of attending our first National Honor Society Assembly. impressed by it the students locked forward to the day they would be eligible for the honor. Friends, Romans and Countrymenn seemed the subject of the semester as the English classes began memorizing Mark Anthony's speech. Ah! What expression. Mark Anthony couldn't have done it better himself. Toward the end of the sophomore year, social maturity came into the foreground. This was illus- trated by the attendance of the May Dance that year. Extra-curricular activities came into promi- nence during this year also. Thoughts in the stu- dents' minds were how quick the last two years have gone by. We're Iuniors already!
