Grovers Corners comes to lhambra Grovers Corners was not your typical small town. Everyone knew what everyone else was doing, who saw who, and so on, but there were a few extra surprises in the play, Our Town by Thorton Wilder. Could people really string undiscer- nible beans, feed imperceptible chickens, eat unapparent eggs and drink invisible strawberry phos- phates? The people of Grovers Cor- ners did. Our Town was filled with ecstacy, laughter and unavoidably melancholy and death. Our Town was a very large cast play, mainly about two families, the Gibbs and the Webbs. lt was direct- ed by Mr. Fred Snow, and there were no stage props used, the ac- tors used improvisation. RIGHT: Ann Price, Stage Manager, narrates the story of Our Town. Howie Newsome CEric Carmodyj unloads some milk off his buggy, as Dr. Gibbs fSteve Kramerj tells him about a pair of twins he has just delivered. 28 OUR TOWN Emily Uenny Richterj tells her mother CCathy Millerj about a report she did at school about the Monroe Doctrine as they string beans.
