ajorettes twirl to perfectlon Alhambra's '78-'79 Nlajorettes were Julie Nelson, Kathy Koch, Ve- nus Myers, and Connie Tuggle. The girls performed with the band at all home football and basketball games and pep assemblies. They placed highly in United States Baton Twirl- ing Association competition and Na- tional Twirling Association competi- tion, both individually and as a group. The Majorettes activities for this year included: a Twirl-a-thon, par- ticipation in La Pradera Park Day, and selling items in the quad. arsity, J .V. Cheer boost Lion spirit. Merry Cid along with Co-captain, Kathy Callahan led the Varsity Cheerleaders through a successful season. The Junior Varsity Cheer- leaders were led by Sue Shourds and Co-captain, Debbie Patterson. The Varsity Cheerleaders were at all football and basketball games, as well as pep assemblies, arousing the AHS involvement! They also did a commercial for Aztec Motors and Channel 5, KPHO. The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders cheered at all the Junior Varsity games football and basketball games. The Cheers did a great job this year, promoting the ever-hum- ble Lion spirit! Ms. Hedges was a newcomer to Alhambra this year and she did a fine job with the Pom line and Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders.
