When Poms dance, Lions roar! ,M J- WM-many: THE '78-'79 Pom line was led by Susan McGrady and Co-captain, Ju- lie Bishop. ln addition, to performing at all home football and basketball games and pep assemblies, the girls marched in the Phoenix Rodeo Pa- rade. The Poms performed various dance routines during halftime at all home games. They promoted school spirit by making break- throughs for the team and selling Spirit Ribbons during Homecom- ing week. They also went to camp last sum- mer and received a total of 27 blue ribbons, and were awarded the Sweepstakes Trophy and the Spe- cialty Award for 1978-79. The Alhambra Lions are known for their playful friendliness toward the students at the games and pep assemblies. Lions arouse student involvement The Mascots of '78-'79 were as spirited as ever. Appearing at all home football and basketball games, not to mention the pep assemblies. The Lion power spread all over cam- pus, as the mascots promoted stu- dent involvement and enthusiasm toward their school. Although the Al- hambra l.ion is noted for his spirited power, the quiet, gentle moments they all shared should not be left out. '78-'79 MASCOTS-TOP TO BOTTOM-Diane Hurtado, Terry Carpenter, Chris Bratcher, Ms. Jill Mason, Misty Capriotti, Tina Clemens, and Amy Swandener. arsity, J .V. Cheer boost Lion spirit. Merry Cid along with Co-captain, Kathy Callahan led the Varsity Cheerleaders through a successful season. The Junior Varsity Cheer- leaders were led by Sue Shourds and Co-captain, Debbie Patterson. The Varsity Cheerleaders were at all football and basketball games, as well as pep assemblies, arousing the AHS involvement! They also did a commercial for Aztec Motors and Channel 5, KPHO. The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders cheered at all the Junior Varsity games football and basketball games. The Cheers did a great job this year, promoting the ever-hum- ble Lion spirit! Ms. Hedges was a newcomer to Alhambra this year and she did a fine job with the Pom line and Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders.
