I think I am going to have a good experience in Alhambra because I have met a lot of students and al- ways learn something from them. My school in Panama is so dif- ferent than Alhambra. High School studies takes six years both academic and vocational, just some commercial schools re- quire only five years. Our school system is divided in two cycles. The three years com- prehend the first cycle, and students BELOW: Ingrid Tiraboschi, a YFU student from El Savador, enjoys her stay at Alhambra. RIGHT: Ingrid and Randy had the chance to travel, thanks to YFU. -if 25 ,. get a diploma. Then you must choose the specific field, and then at the end of the second term on last three or two years according with the field, the students get the high school diploma. I like Arizona as it is different from my country, especially the climate, as we have a tropical climate all year. The thing that I really like is snow. Panama is a little country but rapidly expanding their businesses and industries. My family lives in Panama Cityg small city compared to Phoenix. I have two sisters who are older than me, and three brothers who are younger. My relationship with my family is in which great love and unity is shown and shared with each mem- ber. Exchange students compare countries Hi, my name is Jette and I am from Denmark. I am an AFS-student and as all other AFS-students, I'll stay in the U.S. for a year. At the present time I am half way through my experience and I will say that it is very different here. In Denmark I live in a small village with only about 150 people, one general store, a church, and a tiny lake where we ice-skate in the winter. I live in a big house with my mom and dad and my two smaller sisters, Q12 and 15 years oldl. My dad is a truck- driver, but most people around where I live are farmers. I go to school in a town about ten miles from my village, so I have to take the bus every morning. My school is very different, too. I take very different subjects, the Way of teaching is very different, and the responsibilities are different. My school is also smaller. There are only about 600 people. Now and then I feel Ncrowd- ed at Alhambra, but I have seen so many new activities that I had never experienced before, like Home- coming and Halloween. I also like the fact that a major thing here is sports. I enjoy nearly all kinds of sports, except for football. All together I like being here. I have learned a lot, tmainly about myselfj and all the people I have met have been really nice to me and tried to help me and show me their way of life. I hope very much to come back and visit sometime. Best wishes, from Jette if g et 5 5 , .ai r X E ..... sf -1 :Q SER, igie eseg.. .iss veg use kg. . ' I ff z 'ieswf k .
