Arizona model government set up by Seniors Alhambra was represented by nine Seniors at Flagstaff and Tucson during the summer of 1977 for one Week. Students from all over Arizona took part in Boys and Girls Stateg Boys State was held at N.A.U., Girls State at U. of A. Model governments were set up with each student taking part. New cities and counties were made up, including the boundries and laws. Students were divided between Nationalists and Federalists, with elections for city, county, and state offices. Students from Alhambra were chosen by the Honors Committee. They are leaders, not only through their scho- lastic achievements, but also for their genuine concern for others. They promote a respect for learning and a sense of leadership in the com- munity. ww Monthly meetings were held fea- i turing guest speakers. NHS members held a Halloween party for the mi- grant children and adopted residents of the Gagnon Guest Lodge. Other services offered included tutoring to students needing extra help, and aid- ing the Roths. Officers were: Jan Varner-Presi- dent, Mary Rausch-V. Rotarians, Optimists represent AH The Rotary and Optimist Clubs honored Alhambra's Seniors by se- lecting them to attend special luncheons. The Honors Committee selected a couple each month, based on the individual's school involve- ment, community interest, leader- ship qualities, character, and grades during high school. Student Optimists attended one breakfast meeting of the Club and received a plaque of recognition. Student Rotarians were guests at luncheons every Thursday for the month they were honored.
