Porn, Cheer bring home Spirit Stick Varsity Cheer was led this year by Captains Jean Patterson and Marie Jorgenson. Pom was headed by Barb Larsen and Co-Captain Julie Nevins. They helped cheer and 'dance the teams to many vic- tories through the year. While at Kachina Camp, the girls did us up proud by bringing home many awards. The novelty dance award was one among others that the Poms' brought home. Both groups brought home the Spirit Stick this year. Mrs. Harris was the Pom and Cheer advisor this year and she was regarded highly among the girls. During the year, both groups contributed and boosted Alham- bra's spirit by holding many pep assemblies. To go to Kachina Camp in the summer, they held bake sales, car washes, and other fund raising activities. l E Lions Roar when JV's cheer JV Cheer was led by captain Vir- ginia Gibbons and co-captain Kelly Hall. JV Cheer had a successful and eventful year. The girls on the team helped keep the Alhambra spirit go- ing by performing at pep assemblies, during lunch hours, and at JV games. They attended practices from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. everyday after school. During the summer, the girls went to Kachina Camp in Thatcher, Ari- zona, where they competed against other cheerleaders throughout the state. Although they brought home no special awards, all of Alhambra felt very proud of their performance then, and all throughout the year. Bake sales, car washes and other fund raising activities were held dur- ing the year to promote interest and earn money so that they will be able to attend Kachina camp in the sum- mer and there, represent Alhambra in a way that will combine skill, tal- ent and spirit. fr Valerie North helps make Lions really roar at the winter pep assembly.
