Jake gt gusty Miss Blount to Leave A.H.S. Girls' Vice- Principal Position. Behind those few type- written words in THE MOOR is a story of thirty-five years of service and loyalty to Al- hambra High School. Coming to a framework building in 1909 as an English teacher, she little dreamed that by i944 she would be leading a group of llOO girls. Everyone felt as though a part of A.H.S. was lost when Miss Blount handed in her resignation last November. After doing the customary stint at S.C., Mrs. Edgecomb, who taught in Kansas before com- ing to California, became a member of our faculty in the Home Economics department. After eighteen years she is leaving us. Miss Effine P. Blount Mrs. Farmer, who was Miss Merrill the first year she came here in l923, has been one of the bright features of the east wing. Always ready with a smile when the door opens to E25, she has made Latin a pleasure and has added much to the Latin Club spirit in the last seven years as adviser. ' Coming here in l9ZO as the twenty-ninth teacher in the secondary schools, Miss Park- hurst taught in the Mathematics department. She received her training at Kansas State Agricultural College and U.S.C. She is leaving the school in May for probably the most important appointment of her career-she is to be married. l Mrs. Louise M. Edgecomb Mrs. Mildred M. Farmer Miss Pauline Parkhurst I 29 1
