Many of us don't realize how closely art is related to other subjects such as drama, history, literature, and chemistry. The department is trying to build in us creative thinking in art which brings us closer to all other fields. Nor should your concep- tion of art be too closely restricted. ook at e now The work ot the Speech department has gone along this year with its usual proficiency. Plays, programs, debates, orations, and tournaments have kept up their usual high standards, which were established many years ago. ln time of war, when we are engaged in so many war activities, the Speech department is called upon to till in many places. They have done this willingly and well. The whole school is proud of them. E21

Special classes were offered in which students learned to read rapidly and with better understanding. THE SILVER PEN, a department-sponsored publication, reveals the creative ability of these aspiring scribblers.
